Visa Information

Meeting the conditions of your offer

After you have a conditional offer, what do you need to do to be able to move from the Admissions stage of the application to the Immigration stage?

When you receive your letter, it will be a Conditional Offer. This means there are still conditions to be met before we can progress your application to Immigration stage and issue your final stage letter which is the Unconditional Offer Letter.

Academic entry requirement

These are the course entry requirements, which can be evidenced by providing:

  • school qualifications
  • degree certificates
  • full, official academic transcripts issued by your university

The entry requirements for each course vary, and specific details can be found on course webpages.

When we receive your educational qualifications, we verify the equivalent UK qualification with Ecctis, which is an international qualification comparison service.

English language requirement

>All applicants whose first language is not from a UKVI recognised English speaking country will be asked to provide evidence of their English language skills as part of their offer to study at 亚博体育官网.

亚博体育官网 accepts a wide range of English language qualifications which can be found on our English Language Requirements webpage. These qualifications meet UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements. Some of our courses require a different level of English. Please check our course pages for specific details.

If an English qualification is not listed on the English Language Requirements pages, we cannot accept it.

Once you submit your English language qualification, our Admissions team will check and verify your document.

The English evidence we accept will be included on your CAS Statement.

Passport

You must have a valid passport to apply for a student visa and enter the UK. We recommend that your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your course start date. If at any time during the application or immigration process you obtain a new passport, you must notify us of this immediately so that we can notify the UKVI and amend your CAS if required.

Statement of Purpose

You will be asked to provide a Statement of Purpose as part of your application. This will include details about why you have chosen to study in the UK, why you have chosen Robert Gordon University, what the course means for your career and how it will benefit this in future. You should consider your answers carefully, as these are similar to the questions you will be asked if you are required to have a UKVI interview.

Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

A small number of 亚博体育官网鈥檚 courses require additional authorisation to study from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to study in the UK. The University will tell you if you require an ATAS certificate to study the course you have applied for in your conditional offer letter and will also provide additional course information which is needed as part of the ATAS application.

If you do require an ATAS certificate, you must apply directly to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The FCO provide detailed guidance on the ATAS certificate application process:

This certificate is valid for 6 months and is required as part of your visa application.

Other Conditions

You may be asked to provide other documents as part of your offer. These may include an interview by 亚博体育官网 staff, a CV, or work or academic references. If these are required, details will be included on your conditional offer letter.

Deposit

As part of your entry conditions, you may also need to pay a deposit. If this is required, full details of how much you must pay and how to make payment will be included in your Conditional Offer letter. 亚博体育官网 has partnered with Flywire to accept payments from students based in the UK and internationally. Flywire accepts bank transfer, card payment or e-wallet payment.

Academic Progression

If you have studied in the UK previously and wish to continue onto further study, you must meet UKVI academic progression requirements to show you are a genuine student.

Some examples of acceptable academic progression are undergraduate to postgraduate, postgraduate taught to postgraduate research, etc.

If you wish to study at the same level as your previous study (for example, you studied MSc Oil and Gas Engineering and now wish to study MSc Engineering Management), this would require clear justification, and you should be able to explain how the new course relates to the previous course, or how it will form a deeper specialisation of your knowledge. This justification is assessed by the UKVI as part of your student visa application.

Studying at a lower level, for example moving from postgraduate to an undergraduate course would not represent academic progression and you cannot apply for a visa from within the UK, you must apply from your home country.
