The BSc (Hons) Data Science with Business Management degree at Robert Gordon University has been designed to provide you with a great blend of practical Data Science skills alongside learning about the management and business context in which they can be applied.

You will learn about how to store and manage different types of data, how to draw insights from data using a range of techniques including machine learning, and how to present insights to your target audience with data visualisation tools. This course is based in the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology, but includes modules delivered by Aberdeen Business School, giving a great blend for those interested in the business context in which much Data Science occurs.

Year 1

You will take part in a common Foundation Year with the rest of the School of Computing, which will introduce you to fundamental Data Science topics including programming, problem solving, databases and data analysis. You鈥檒l also get course-specific classes to learn about the principles of Data Science and of business.

Year 2

You will expand the knowledge you gained in the first year, studying more advanced methods for managing data and analysing it. Your business knowledge will increase and a project-based module will allow you to practice it. You鈥檒l have the opportunity to select electives from a wide range of computing topics.

Year 3

You will expand your Data Science skills to cover Big Data and Machine Learning. You鈥檒l also learn about markets and leadership. Interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial project-based modules will let you apply and improve both your computing and business skills. Elective modules will let you extend your breadth of computing knowledge.

Year 4

In the first semester, you will learn about strategy, innovation and building dashboards for data visualisation. In the second semester, you will undertake a large, individual capstone project on a suitable topic of your own choice, which will allow you to demonstrate all you have learned throughout the course.
