Based at 亚博体育官网鈥檚 Garthdee campus, the clinic has capacity for approximately 12 people with each patient entitled to a block of weekly sessions. Over the course of 40 weeks, the clinic will benefit around 80 people with neurological conditions living in and around Aberdeen to access rehabilitation.

Not only will the new clinic help patients, but it will also give physiotherapy students vital experience ahead of moving into their careers within the health and physio industry.

Donna Wynne, Associate Dean for Academic Development and Student Experience at 亚博体育官网, said: 鈥淲e are very grateful to NHS Grampian Charity for this generous funding which allows us to commence this service and I鈥檓 sure both patients and our physiotherapy students will benefit greatly going forward.

鈥淭o be given the chance to make a positive impact on a specific group of patients with their own rehabilitation needs is a fantastic privilege and we cannot wait to meet our first cohort of people coming to the clinic.

鈥淚t also offers students the ideal opportunity to work directly with patients and use the skills they learned to excellent use before going on to make significant impact in their chosen field upon graduating.鈥�

鈥淓xercise plays an important role in the rehabilitation of many neurological conditions, and we know this clinic will be a fantastic resource for Grampian.

鈥淣ot only will patients with neurological conditions benefit from vital physiotherapy services which might otherwise be inaccessible to them, but it will also provide important hands-on experience for future physiotherapists.鈥�

Its existing professional Physiotherapy Clinic has been actively supporting students and the community for many years, providing a comprehensive range of therapies, evidence-based treatments and advice to help reduce symptoms and minimise disruption to the everyday life of clients.
