She admits that balancing caring responsibilities for two children and working part time as well as studying was difficult, and she considered deferring.
But with the right support in place from the University she finished her postgraduate course and is looking to take her initial steps in her career.
Cynthia said: 鈥淥ne unique aspect of my time at 亚博体育官网 was the support I received during a challenging period when I was battling depression. During this period, it was very hard to balance caring for my two young children, with my studies, my part-time job and my own health.
鈥淭here were moments when I considered deferring my studies, but my Course Leader and the University鈥檚 Wellbeing team provided immense support. Through regular meetings and their encouragement, I was able to stay on track and complete my degree. This experience showed me how much 亚博体育官网 cares for its students beyond academics.鈥�
Cynthia, who hails from Nigeria, had worked in a hotel before beginning her time at 亚博体育官网 and chose her course because of 亚博体育官网鈥檚 strong reputation in the hospitality sector and the practical approach to learning.
She feels that the blend of theoretical knowledge and real-world applications would help embark on a successful career. Cynthia also had a memorable visit to Peterhead Prison as part of her studies on Dark Tourism.
Cynthia said: 鈥淭he postgraduate degree has significantly enhanced my skills by providing a deeper understanding of global hospitality and tourism trends. It improved my leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, which are crucial for managing teams and delivering exceptional customer experiences in the industry.
