For Record Store Day, (16 April 2011), Studio Parris Wakefield were asked to design the first ever joint Joy Division and New Order release. A limited release of only 1,000 copies New Order’s version of Ceremony and In A Lonely Place is being backed with Joy Division’s rehearsal sessions, featuring, for the first time, the full length version of In A Lonely Place.
With the blessing of Peter Saville, they designed the sleeve, ‘after’ his original, using the same font, Albertus, and a redrawn ‘Veritas Hound’ taken from the type specimen sheet which was the original influence. Rather than simply emulating the original sleeve, they were inspired by the ‘prelude’ pre-releases that Andrew Robinson from New Order’s management showed them.
